The Aprilaire 2410 is a whole-house air purifier: a painted steel cabinet that an HVAC contractor installs on or near the furnace or air handler. Aprilaire gives it a nominal filter size of 16 x 25 inches, and lists the cabinet at 17.75 by 6.75 by 30.0625 inches.

It comes with one Aprilaire 413, a MERV 13 filter. The Aprilaire owner's manual (10007823) lists the 413 as the "Best for Healthy Home" media for the 2410 and the 410 (MERV 11) as the option for clean home and equipment protection. The 2410 product page also lists the 413CBN and 416 as compatible.

This is a case where the nominal size is far from the real one. Aprilaire lists the 413 at 16.52 by 29.38 by 4 inches, more than four inches longer than the 25 in its nominal size. Aprilaire says its filters are engineered to the exact specifications of its air purifiers for an airtight fit and seal, and the manual says to use genuine Aprilaire filters. Buy by the part number printed on the label inside the cabinet door, not by the 16x25 size.

On change interval, the owner's manual says Aprilaire recommends replacing the media each year, and that your contractor may recommend a different schedule. The 413 product page describes a 12-month filter life.
